Next Year’s Garlic Planting

Already, we use a LOT of garlic in our cooking, unfortunately more that we have in the past grown. That is going to change...

For the past few years, we have dedicated a small raised bed (6' x 8') to planting garlic in the Fall, and have seemed to be waiting endlessly for it to be ready for harvesting. This Fall we are also converting one of the tanks in the greenhouse (originally planned for the raising of trout) to garlic, and the other to ginger.

The reasoning is simple - THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF GARLIC ARE SEEMINGLY ENDLESS!

Here one of many great articles to which you can refer on the benefits:

And to create an even greater infusion of garlic (and other healthy ingredients) into our diet, here is one great idea:

Cook with infused Olive Oil:

Buy your 3 Liter bottles of olive oil and separate them into 3 smaller bottles:

  • To one add 1/2" covering of the bottom of the bottle with crushed garlic
  • To the next add 1/2" covering of the bottom of the bottle with crushed ginger root
  • To the last add 1/2" covering of the bottom of the bottle with crushed tumeric root

Use each in cooking to replace less healthy vegetable or corn oils, and select the one that will provide the most sympathetic flavor.
